Global trajectory tracking control of VTOL-UAVs without linear velocity measurements

چکیده
This paper deals with the position control of Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) without linear velocity measurements. We propose a multistage constructive procedure, exploiting the cascade property of the translational and rotational dynamics. More precisely, we consider the force as a virtual control input for the translational dynamics, from which we extract the required (desired) system attitude and thrust achieving the tracking objective. Thereafter, the control torque is designed to drive the actual attitude to the desired one. A nonlinear observer, aswell as some instrumental auxiliary variables are used to obviate the need for the linear velocity. Global asymptotic stability of the overall closed loop system is achieved. Simulation results are provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme. © 2010 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Coordinated trajectory tracking of multiple vertical take-off and landing UAVs
This paper investigates the coordinated trajectory tracking problem of multiple vertical takeooff and landing (VTOL) unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The case of unidirectional information flow is considered and the objective is to drive all the follower VTOL UAVs to accurately track the trajectory of the leader. Firstly, a novel distributed estimator is developed for each VTOL UAV to obtain th...
متن کاملVisual Servoing for Underactuated VTOL UAVs : a Linear, Homography-Based Framework
The paper concerns the control of Vertical Take Off and Landing (VTOL) Underactuated Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in hover flight, based on measurements provided by an on-board video camera. The objective is to stabilize the vehicle to the equilibrium pose associated with an image of a planar target, using a minimal sensor suite and poor knowledge of the environment. By using the homography matrix co...
متن کاملAttitude Estimation and Control of VTOL UAVs
The theoretical challenge involved in the operation of VTOL UAVs is often divided into two main problems. The first problem involves the development of an estimation scheme which can accurately recover the orientation, or angular position, of the aircraft. The second problem involves the development of algorithms which can be used to reliably control the orientation and/or the position of the v...
متن کاملRobust output tracking control of VTOL aircraft without velocity measurements ⋆
In this paper, we develop a nonlinear controller to achieve causal output tracking for a non-minimum phase vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft without velocity measurements. Due to the presence of disturbances, auxiliary control inputs are introduced in the state observer to attenuate their effects. By decomposing the original system into one minimum phase and one non-minimum phase su...
متن کاملDesign of an Intelligent Controller for Station Keeping, Attitude Control, and Path Tracking of a Quadrotor Using Recursive Neural Networks
During recent years there has been growing interest in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Moreover, the necessity to control and navigate these vehicles has attracted much attention from researchers in this field. This is mostly due to the fact that the interactions between turbulent airflows apply complex aerodynamic forces to the system. Since the dynamics of a quadrotor are non-linear and the ...
